|Bam to Opie: "There Is No Sex Tape"|
| April 24, 2008|
A day after offering up $100,000 for an alleged sex tape involving his fiancee Lindsay and MTV/Jackass star Bam Margera, as reported by the New York Post Page Six column, Gregg "Opie" Hughes got the information he was seeking - no such tape exists. Confirmation came from Margera, who was tracked down and appeared live on the Opie & Anthony Show today.
"I think it's nonsense," Margera told O&A. "I never even heard of those dudes... There is no tape." Margera even offered up an additional $100,000 to see the tape if it exists. [Audio here]
"Those dudes" that Margera was referring to are ex-employees of the Opie & Anthony Show, who first fed the rumor to Steppin' Out's Chaunce Hayden. In turn, Hayden then fed the rumor to Page Six, spawning the report in yesterday's column. Hayden admitted to FMQB yesterday that he had not actually seen the tape, but was made aware of it's alleged existence by the ex-employees in question. While no one is stating the names of the culprits behind the rumor, one of the likely “disgruntled employees” that fed the Hayden/Page Six report is former Opie & Anthony Show producer Ben Sparks, who was let go from the program in July 2006.
While Opie also denied the Post report that legal proceedings had started regarding the tape, things are certainly taking a turn now. The XM Satellite Radio personality has promised to make someone pay for the false rumor and has been in contact with lawyers about his legal options.
