Panasonic Announces Price, Release Date for 32GB SDHC Card
by Jennifer Nelson
Panasonic claims that the card can hold about 12,320 images recorded at 10 megapixels or up to 12 hours of high-definition video. As a Class 6 SDHC card, it records at a maximum data transfer speed of 20 MB per second.
SanDisk released a 32GB SDHC Class 4 card of its own at PMA this month. This records at a slower 15 MB/s, which may make it less suitable for HD video recording and capturing large images. It retails for much less, however, at $350, and will also ship in April.
Panasonic's card has a labeling feature, so users can write notes or titles on the front and back of the card. The flash memory also allows the card to work in extreme temperatures - from -13 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit.
