PARMA -- The Cuyahoga County Coroner's office is performing an autopsy today on a 15-year-old boy suspected of committing suicide Tuesday at the Western Campus of Cuyahoga Community College, said Powell Caesar, spokesman for the coroner's office. The student fell over a second-floor railing about 10 a.m. in the Student Services Building. A paramedic squad responded to the school and the teen was taken by air ambulance to MetroHealth Medical Center where he later was pronounced dead.
The boy is from North Royalton and is enrolled in the school's post-secondary option program, said Tri-C spokesman Dan Minnich. He said hundreds of area teens are accepted into the program which allows them the opportunity to work on a degree prior to high school graduation. To be eligible for the Post Secondary Enrollment Option program, students must score at college level on the assessment test or ACT.
