April 16, 2010 - European videogame retailer GAME will soon be adding warning stickers to its used titles that include additional downloadable content. The stickers are meant to inform customers that certain titles containing free, downloadable content (DLC) is only available if purchased new.
"GAME is currently creating stickers and procedures for our store network to ensure that our customers are informed that not all pre-owned games will have access to free downloadable content," a representative told IGN. "We expect this to be implemented over the next month at all of our locations."
This move comes just weeks after a lawsuit was filed against retailer GameStop by a customer who claimed he was not informed that the free DLC contained in Dragon Age: Origins was not available if the game was purchased used. The lawsuit is still ongoing.
GameStop has not responded to requests for comment as of press time.
