Potentially Bat... I mean, bad news for Batman fans, as Arkham Asylum 2 could well miss its 2010 release date and be pushed back into 2011, according to a senior UK retail source talking to CVG.
The first Arkham Asylum was one of the finest games of last year, so this delay comes as quite disappointing news, as the sequel had been slated for a pre-Christmas release this year.
Since the 3D GOTY edition hit the shelves, Warner Bros. has bought a controlling stake in developer Rocksteady, picking up publishing duties from Square Enix.
"We've been told that Warner has acted early to avoid releasing the game into a heavily congested pre-Christmas market," the unnamed source told CVG. "It wants to dominate the first quarter of 2011 instead, when it can get maximum retail space and mindshare amongst gamers."
CVG contacted Warner about a potential release date, garnering the response, "We haven't announced a release date for the sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum yet."
Still, Bat-fans can still look forward to more Batman, as Rocksteady is busy working on new DLC for the first game.
