JACKSONVILLE, FL -- A man says he drove his car into an area McDonald's because he didn't get his french fries.

31-year-old David Spillers told police he lost it when he didn't get the two french fries he had ordered last Thursday night.

"He got angry because his order was incorrect, and he rammed his car into the kiddie play area of this particular establishment," said Jacksonville Sheriff's Office spokesperson Ken Jefferson.

Police say Spillers was so angry, he didn't stop after smashing into the play area at the restaurant on Atlantic Boulevard. He rammed his car into the side of the restaurant, where customers normally sit.

"It's a lot of damage but what's worse is that people could have been killed as a result of this guy's poor decision because of an order that wasn't correct," said Jefferson.

Police say Spillers drove off, but was tracked down easily.

"The officer when he got to the scene, tracked the glass, followed it to an apartment complex, right to his car," said Jefferson.

McDonald's sent First Coast News this statement:

"The safety of our customers and employees at our restaurants is very important to us. Fortunately, no one was injured in this unfortunate, isolated incident. We're cooperating fully with the authorities in their investigation of this matter. Because this is a police matter, it would be inappropriate for us to comment or speculate about what happened, or what prompted the incident. Any further inquiries should be directed to the authorities."

"People make mistakes, with orders and what have you. But you've got to manage your anger. And clearly, he didn't in this case," said Jefferson.

When police confronted Spillers, they say he confessed.

"He said he was very remorseful and was going to go back to the restaurant and apologize," said Jefferson.

Talk about an unhappy meal.

Luckily, no one was hurt in the incident.

Police say Spillers was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time, but he could face up to two years in jail.

McDonald's reports around $75,000 in damage.

McDonald's had to close for a few hours after the incident for repairs.

The side of the building is still covered in plywood and the play area is roped off by caution tape.

Spillers faces charges of reckless driving, and felony criminal mischief.
